Superdelegates , Florida, and Michigan

I read a lot of debate and arguments going on about the role of superdelegates and whether or not Florida or Michigan should be allowed to seat their delegates. I must say one argument that is being applied selectively is in favor of Obama. Obama supporters, indeed obama himself, and many liberal blogs says [...]

News roundup

Obama is gaining ground quickly on Clinton here in Texas. One poll from ARG even shows him ahead (though its likely to be an outlier). And Clinton’s vaunted advantage among Latino voters? Fugeddaboutit - ARG polls it as only a 2% margin.

Cornyn and his cronies are already gunning for Rick Noriega, the [...]

Latest Polls: Hillary Still Leading in Key Delegate Rich States

I posted previously about the Obama campaign’s post-Potomac success and I cautioned that key states had yet to vote and we ought not to get ahead of the voters; especially considering that Hillary was polling well before Tsunami Tuesday. Well here are the new polls showing she is still maintaining her leads in OH [...]

Post-Potomac Popular Vote Update

Post-Potomac Update:
I previously broke out the numbers for the voter turn-out in the Primaries and promised to update it with caucus numbers. Well, MSNBC has done it for me.
Obama has a slight lead over Hillary in the overall popular vote. MSNBC breaks the numbers down for all the contests including caucuses.
I would note at [...]

Our voice and our [...]

Tejano Democrats Endorsed Hillary

The Tejano Democrats, a statewide organization, met and voted over a year ago (unlike some Culinary Union I know) in Austin to overwhelmingly endorse Senator Hillary Clinton in Texas.
“We have known Hillary Clinton for 35 years. Hillary knows Texas, and has worked with our community in our state,” said former State Senator and current [...]

Gonzalez endorses Obama

Barack Obama picked up a key endorsement Monday from Rep. Charlie Gonzalez, D-San Antonio, who said he backs the Illinois senator for the Democratic nomination for president.
To put this in perspective, Gonzalez is the son of the legendary Henry B. Gonzalez, whom San Antonio’s convention center is named after. Charlie is also well-liked and [...]

San Antonio Express-News, El Paso Times endorse Obama

On the heels of this weekend’s primary and caucus sweep, Obama earned the endorsement of newspapers in two important markets — San Antonio (60% hispanic in city, 50% in metro) and El Paso (76% in city.) Both editorial endorsements accept Obama’s message of Hope and Unity as their basis:
San Antonio Express-News
America needs a president [...]

Democratic Voter Turnout in 2008 Primaries Trumps Republican Turnout

In the 2004 Presidential election voter turn out in Texas favored the Republicans. 4,526,917 (Bush) Republican vs. 2,832,704 (Kerry) Democrats. Bush was favored by 1.6 times over Kerry. However in 2008, the race is looking like it will be a very different story for Texas Democrats if the recent Primary voter trends are replicated [...]

Obama picks up Mex-Am endorsement

State Rep. Pete Gallego, chairman of the Mexican American Legislative Caucus, has announced he is endorsing Barack Obama for president.
This may help Obama’s numbers with Latinos in Texas. Clinton had a sizeable advantage among that demographic in California.
