FISA vote

John Cornyn voted for the FISA bill, which runs rampant over our civil liberties. Rick Noriega would have voted against it.
Reason number 482 why Texas needs to put Rick Noriega in the Senate.
Help the ACLU fight the good fight here. (and check out their great advertising, too.)

Cornyn in trouble

Deep in the heart of ruby-red Texas, John Cornyn only leads by 4 points. The campaign hasn’t even started yet, and the incumbent is below 50% and Noriega is nipping at his heels. This race just moved into the top-tier.

Clinton’s continuing woes

News Item 1: The boycott of DailyKos by Hillary Clinton supporters will be almost completely ineffective, for a number reasons. The first is that, well, there just aren’t very many Hillary supporters on the web. If you look at the demographics of primary voters from exit polls, you’ll see that the more highly [...]

Caucuses are a Joke

From a mailing list I’m on, another example of why the Texas two-step hybrid system is FUBAR:
6:00 pm Caucus-goers begin to arrive
7:00 pm Polling location closes, there is an estimated 1,000 voters still in line waiting to vote (eight precincts and three poll workers equals one really long wait)
1:00 am Last voter votes and polls [...]

Other Texas Races

Rick Noriega won the primary last night, and will be looking to take John Cornyn’s Senate seat in November. Noriega is well known, has an impeccable military record and is starting to build some grassroots support. Cornyn currently has a net-negative approval rating, and should be quite vulnerable, due to his support [...]

The Numbers

Wow - just saw this: Imagine a best case scenario, where Clinton wins every remaining congressional district by almost 25%.
Her gain? Only 110 delegates. Obama would still lead by 50 pledged delegates.
Now do you wonder why she’s fighting so hard for MI and FL to count?

Delegate Update

With 40% of caucus returns in, Obama is still up 12% in Texas. It looks like both CNN and Burnt Orange have given her a 4-delegate lead from the primaries. At best, I’d say she may be able to squeak out a one-or two delegate margin, if everything goes her way in the caucus [...]

Projection: Obama will win the most delegates in Texas

Hillary Clinton won tonight’s popular vote in Texas, but it appears as though Barack Obama will win the most delegates from Texas.
The best primary delegate analysis is this spreadsheet, being updated live by the Burnt Orange Report crew. As it stands, at 1:00, Clinton is up by only 1 delegate, despite being over [...]
