Obama Rally Houston Photos

The crowd started gathering about 4:30 — more than an hour before doors opened.

All the local networks seemed to have people on the scene:

The arena begins to fill:

A very diverse crowd — maybe 60% African-American, 35% white, 5% Latino. Actual demographics of Houston are about 15% AA, 45% white, 40% Latino. So it did reflect his strengths in different groups and underrepresentation in others. I suspect the makeup of the Bill Clinton rally tonight at UH is a bit different.

The campaign made excellent use of the dipdive video:

After a long wait — Obama came out to a Fired Up, Ready To Go crowd and announced his victory in Wisconsin, followed with detailed instructions for the Texas primary and caucus, and made a clean segue into his excellent stump speech:

I didn’t bring any good tele lenses, but fortunately j-a-x offered to share his excellent portrait of Obama at the podium:

All in all, a fantastic evening. I am working on putting together a video as well.

Sorry it took 24 hours to get the images posted; I had left my computer at the office last night and didn’t get around to it until this afternoon.

I wish I could say that your pictures are better because your camera is, but that’d be a lie. Nice work. Wish you (and your nice equipment) had been at the Clinton rally to get some better shots.
