Obama sweeps Potomac Primary

The delegates awarded tonight will likely place Obama ahead of Hillary in terms of combined pledged and superdelegates. While it was expected Obama would win all three, the margins are beyond what was expected, particulary in VA. The remaining February contests, also likely to fall for Obama, show continued momentum that Hillary may not be able to blunt before the delegate-rich March 4th Ohio and Texas primaries.

DC, 15 delegates, 89% reporting:

  • Obama 76
  • Clinton 24

Virgina, 83 delegates, 98% reporting:

  • Obama 64
  • Clinton 36

Margyland, 70 delegates, 13% reporting:

  • Obama 62
  • Clinton 35

Well this is the last time Obama can claim to be the underdog. He is now the de facto front-runner for the Democratic nomination. This is where things are going to get very interesting for the Hillary Clinton campaign.

Is the dramatic shake-up in the campaign leadership going to be enough and in time for a recovery from these serious set backs?

Only time will tell, but either way all the cameras and attention are now going to be focused on Texas. Things are about to get very interesting around these parts.
